The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink is open for business!

Well, okay.  Open for fun–and for learning figure skating if you’d like to.

And they have all kinds of special events coming up.

The Ice Rink, which opened for the season this week, will be in operation until January 18, 2027, according to their webpage.

New this year, is the opportunity for figure skating lessons with the Sacramento State Figure Skating Team!   Starting November 17th, lessons are available on Sunday mornings, and Tuesday afternoons.  Here’s the link for registration.

Upcoming November events

Not new, but always important, is the fact that our veterans get to skate free next Tuesday, November 11th, Veterans Day.  If you happen to be a veteran (thank you!) and in the area, you may want to put on a pair of skates and go have fun.  Veteran’s Day hours at the Ice Rink are from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

And among the more immediate upcoming special events, is Princess & Superhero Day, on Saturday, November 14th.  From noon to two, that afternoon, young royalty and superheroes are invited to don their crowns and capes, respectively, as they take to the ice.

In addition, skaters get a chance to give back, from Monday, November 16th, through Sunday, the 29th, for “Donation Week”.  Bring a donation for River City Food Bank, and you’ll receive $5 off your skating admission!  (Suggested donation items include canned goods, and dry goods such as cereal, rice, peanut butter, and shelf-stable milk.)

The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink, located at Ali Youssefi Square, 701 K Street, is open from 2 pm to 9 pm, Tuesday through Thursday, and 10 am to 10 pm, Friday through Sunday.   The rink is closed Mondays, except holidays, and has special holiday hours, as listed on their website.  General admission is $15 (and $8 for children ages 6 and under), and includes skate rental.
