Every Christmas morning, when the final present had been given and unwrapped, my mother would joke, “OK–let’s wrap them up and do it again!”

Wanting Christmas to linger is something a lot of us experience, every December 26th.

Here are just a few places to visit to keep Christmas going–especially if you were too busy to enjoy them before the 25th!

Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink

The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink has two free skate days coming up: this Saturday, December 28th, and then on Saturday, January 18th.

From noon to 2 pm, on these dates, the first 300 people to arrive get to skate free, courtesy of the A’s!

Meanwhile, the rink is open until January 20, 2025.  Here’s the link for more information.

Winter Fest OC

Ice tubing, skating and winter fun continues at Winter Fest OC through January 5th.  They have some ticket specials available.

In addition, they’re planning a New Year’s Eve celebration with two countdowns, fireworks displays and tribute band Taylor Nation!

In the spirit of “keeping Christmas all the year”, they also have two “giving machines”, where visitors can purchase necessary supplies, food, etc. and choose a charity to which they’d like to donate them.  What a “cool” idea!

Solvang Julefest

In the running this year for the title of “Best Christmas Town”, Solvang scored a very impressive second place from Newsweek!

They’ll still have their Julefest decorations up and mischievous Nisser (gnomes) waiting to be found throughout downtown Solvang, and their 10-minute “Light & Music Show”, nightly, from now through Sunday, January 5th.

In addition, Solvang is looking forward to their first-ever “Copenhagen Countdown”, on New Year’s Eve, with a performance by tribute band the Molly Ringwald Project from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.  And the countdown, beginning at 3:00 pm, allows Californians to ring in 2025 right along with Denmark!
