Christmas season 2024 has rocketed past us, faster than an ice-tubing sled!

But we still have one more weekend for festivities before Twelfth Night, January 6th.

Here are a few more “California Christmas” celebrations you might like–in addition to my previous post and the magical happenings at the Museum of Make Believe.

While they’re usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, for this final full week of Zoo Lights, their website is showing them open daily.   Hours are  6:00 – 100:00 pm nightly, for their multiple stations celebrating the Zoo’s residents and featuring the new lantern sculptures.

And don’t miss their popular “Twinkle Tunnel”–it’s an excellent photo location.

L.A. Zoo Lights continues through this week, December 29 – January 5th, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm nightly.

The “Grinch” is just about to leave the building–but you can catch him if you’re quick!

Following this weekend’s shows, the Old Globe Theatre has three more performances of “Dr. Seuss’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'”: one at 5:00 pm on Monday, December 30th, and two matinees on New Year’s Eve Day: one at10:30 that morning, and a final show at 2:00 pm. Tuesday, December 31st.

San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre is located in Balboa Park, off El Prado between the San Diego Museum of Art and the Museum of Us.   Guests are encouraged to arrive at least one hour prior to showtime, to secure parking.  I’d even go a little further and suggest arriving at least two hours in advance.  There’s plenty to see and enjoy.

“Christmas on the Wharf” at Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf

The lights and decorations stay up through next Thursday, January 2nd, and there’s ice skating!

Ice Skating by the Bay is open in the Custom House Plaza, near the Waterfront Parking Lot, now through next Sunday, January 5th.  Hours vary, with the rink open from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm on some dates, and noon to 8:00 pm on others.  Visitors may skate as long as they like, according to Ice Skating by the Bay’s information page.

Old Fisherman’s Wharf is located, near Monterey Bay Coastal Trail and Olivier Street. The Custom House Plaza, for Ice Skating by the Bay, is near the intersection of Adams and East Franklin Streets.

And–that wraps it up, for now!  Hope you’ve had a very Merry Christmas season as we head into the New Year.
