Forget partridges in pear trees, swimming swans and drummers drumming.
Sacramento’s Midtown Association begins their festive “12 Days of Midtown” today–and it’s going to be a lot more fun.
“12 Days of Midtown” is a series of a dozen events, including Christmas markets, theatre performances and community fundraisers.
While you can access the complete list of events here, I’ll highlight a few that sound especially festive.
Starting off, of course, with today!
Sunday, December 1 (a magical day anyway) is “Museum Sunday” at Sutter’s Fort and the State Indian Museum. This global event celebrates the role of museums in their local communities. And when you shop for special gifts at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park and the State Indian Museum, the proceeds go to help community programs and events.
Wednesday, December 4, is Frost Fest at Fremont Park! This is a festive evening Christmas market, starting at 4:00 pm and running until 8:00, with 75 local vendors, ornament-making workshops, gift wrapping, and live music by Viv and the Vibes.
Saturday, December 7, the Midtown Farmers Market happens, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Ranked the #1 Farmers Market in California, and the #3 in the nation by the American Farmland Trust’s Farmers Market Celebration, the Midtown Farmers Market showcases local artisans and entrepreneurs, as well as offering fresh and locally-grown foods, DIY activities and live music.
And, Tuesday, December 11, B Street Theatre presents their afternoon matinee of “A Christmas Carol” at 2:00 p.m. This is a new adaptation of Dickens’ classic, written by actor and stand-up comic Sam Kebede. According to B Street Theatre’s website, the production features original music and a cast of just three B Street Company Members.;
While that concludes this particular post, I’ve just highlighted one-third of the activities comprising Sacramento’s “12 Days of Midtown”! Get a look at the others on their link:, and may the “12 days” be merry and festive for you–in Midtown Sacamento or wherever you may be.
