2024 has been a landmark year for Museum of Make Believe.

This summer, they achieved a long-held dream.

After four years of fundraising while making art and imagination accessible through pop-up events, and some virtual ones during the pandemic, husband-and-wife creative team and museum co-founders Amy and Geoff Mitchell opened their physical space, in the heart of Laguna Beach.

And they’d like to invite you to come and celebrate with them–with TWO upcoming events.

On Saturday, November 30th, they’re hosting an outdoor holiday market, from noon to 4 pm, according to an email from Amy, who is the Museum of Make Believe’s Executive Director.

Amy says the featured guest artisans will be local community members, promoting their work.   (As the Museum has just put up Thanksgiving decor after an imaginative and lively Halloween season, they’re understandably still determining who will be exhibiting.)

And a week later, on Friday, December 6th,  look for Amy and Geoff as they participate in Laguna Beach Hospitality Night!

This is going to be a street party–with lots of talent.

According to the Laguna Beach website, the downtown streets will be closed, with the celebration starting at 5:00 pm.

And it’s going to be a blast!

Local performances groups will offer entertainment.   Crafts and activities will be happening in the Peppertree Lot.   Caroling and tempting food will be a part of the program, as will the arrival of a certain gentleman in a red suit, who will help to light the tree at 6:10 pm, and will be onsite in his Beach House, afterwards, to listen to children’s Christmas wishes.

Be sure to stop by and say “hi” to Geoff and Amy in their new space, and congratulate them on making a magical dream come true.   Maybe, if you’re lucky, Geoff will even have crafted some of his enchanting miniature versions of “A Christmas Carol”.

And I can’t wait to tell you more about the Museum of Make Believe, as they continue creating magic for Christmas Season 2024.

The Museum of Make Believe, located in Suite 5 of 1590 South Coast Highway, near Bluebird Canyon Drive, is open Thursdays through Sundays .   Come visit them for their outdoor holiday marketplace, from noon to 4 pm on Saturday, November 30th, and during Long Beach Hospitality Night on Friday, December 6th.  Here’s the link for more information.
