“Jackalope” spotted, on the horizon!
And once it gets to Pasadena, it’s going to be fantastic.
The Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair comes to Pasadena’s Central Park, this Saturday and Sunday, November 9th and 10th.
More than 200 handmade artisan booths, highly tempting food, music and DIY activities are all on the program.
Guests will get to explore their creativity through watercolor-painting workshops, screen printing and designing with dried flowers. The youngest artists on hand will get to engage in a kids’ clay activity.
And in an email, Jackalope Arts advises families to arrive early on Sunday, November 10th. That’s when “Miss Harriet” will be onsite, with play activities and childhood music for the smallest attendees.
Now, what might you get to see as you shop Jackalope Pasadena?
Just a few of the exhibiting artists include:
Cisele Handcrafted Leather, with their beautiful handtooled bags and wallets (and their website mentions that they have many more items available than they’re displaying!);
Capycrafts, I’ve never seen hand-crocheted flowers before! Check these out, they are beautiful! And you’ll see some of these on hairclips and crocheted bags. I would suggest a closer look at the crocheted toy cats, but unfortunately (and not surprisingly!) the website shows them as “sold out”.
Story Spark. These are T-shirts with original graphics, blending technology, pop culture and art. The “Volt Dragon” is my favorite, but there’s a wide selection that will allow you to find the perfect quirky design that reflects you or a special gift recipient in your life.
And I’m delighted to see Accessory Alchemy exhibiting! Admittedly, proprietor Ali Krajewski’s work is a longtime favorite. Her steampunk jewelry pays tribute to the Victorian era, and manages to be both eye-catching and fun.
Here, Ali displays one of her miniature Christmas tree necklaces, under a tiny glass display dome. I lost count of how many of these wound up being just right for someone on my gift list, and a tiny green tree with red ornaments is now a favorite Christmastime addition to whatever I decide to wear in December.
Then, there’s the food.
Maine lobster, kogi and ice cream will be among the food-truck offerings, while artisan foods to take along and surprise a favorite “foodie” include Middle Eastern fare, small-batch cookies from around the world, preserves and nut butters.
All in all, Jackalope Pasadena sounds like a “feast” for the senses and an excellent, soul-renewing way to spend a weekend.
