“Music has made me happy throughout my life,” says six-time Grammy Award-winning musician and innovator Daniel Ho.
As a composer, singer, songwriter, arranger, and a gifted performer whose areas of expertise include slack-key guitar, ukelele and piano, Daniel shares that joy with his audiences, collaborators and the students he’s taught, internationally.
And you’ll get the opportunity to see him perform, with award-winning hula troupe Halau Hula Keali’i o Nālani, in a spectacular concert, starting at 3:00 p.m. at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center on December 24th!
Daniel and the halau (which means “school” or “group” in Hawaiian) will be performing some of his original songs in English and Hawaiian, with hula choreography that combines Hawaiian tradition with innovation, as part of the 65th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration.
Every year, this free performance showcases music from the various cultures of Los Angeles. This year’s concert includes 28 artists and performance groups, covering a wide spectrum of musical styles and backgrounds.
Just a few of the additional performing artists include: Afro Peruvian Experience; Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles; and Victory Praise Dancers.
While the concert is free, reservations are required for in-person attendance to this three-hour spectacular. Here’s the link to the Music Center’s website, where you can reserve your tickets and get a look at the full listing of performers.
Can’t make it to L.A. during this busy season? There will also be a live stream of the concert on PBS SoCal, as well as a rebroadcast on Christmas night!
Daniel offered a closer look at his musical career, his work with Halau Hula Keali’i o Nālani (including on his latest album!), and a preview of their upcoming performance on Christmas Eve.
