Changing the World With Creativity

Yayyyy!  Southern California has a brand-new creative community!

And they’re showing everyone what they can do.

Handmade in South Bay is a new organization of handmade-only entrepreneurs.  Their mission is to support and promote creative small business owners in the South Bay community.  And that mission translates into: lots of cool creations, fun ideas and DIY classes, available this Christmas season as they get going!

All through this month and December, Handmade in South Bay will be offering “Handmade for the Holidays” DIY classes in El Segundo.  Their upcoming offerings include workshops on creating safety-pin bracelets (we remember these from the 1970s!  They’re a very cool vintage craft!), Hanukkah stamps, and decorating holiday tables.

And they’ll just be getting warmed up at that point.

Next up, they have a “Handmade for the Holidays” event in El Segundo on Sunday, December 1!  Fourteen artisans–including Lainie’s Lathers (among her creations: ginger-scented “gingerbread” soaps!) and Seeds of Inspiration (yummy-scented aromatherapy pillows!) will be on hand.  And just in case anybody has five minutes’ free time (though that’s highly unlikely with entrepreneurs!), they’ll also be hosting their First Annual Holiday Boutique, in Lomita, on Saturday, December 14th.

Founding member Barb Lieberman says Handmade in South Bay is all about networking and community.  “Members attend monthly meet-ups, targeted classes, and planning sessions, serve on committees, and work to actively promote the group and fellow members,” she explains.

The community they reach may be larger than just South Bay.  Handmade in South Bay’s website says, “If you can dream…you can create…then you can change the world.”

Merry Christmas, Handmade in South Bay.  You’re a fantastic “gift” to our communities!

Handmade in South Bay’s events are in collaboration with Whole Foods Market, El Segundo and Etsy.   Their “Handmade for the Holidays” crafters’ event happens Sunday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Whole Foods in El Segundo.  Their “First Annual Holiday Boutique” is scheduled for Saturday, December 14th, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lomita-Harbor City Kiwanis Club.
