Just thirteen more days till Christmas!
And if you’re in Southern California, you still have time to have a lot of fun, this weekend, finding unique handcrafted gifts for all the special people on your gift list.
That’s because, this Saturday and Sunday, December 13th and 14th, more than 170 artists and artisans will be in Downtown Burbank, courtesy of Jackalope Art Fair, as they participate in the Winter Arts Festival!
And not that I want to tempt you or anything, but…
A glimpse of the vendors

Colorful “art that makes you feel good” is the specialty of featured artist Armelle Ngo, of Armelle’s Atelier. I especially like her hummingbirds and the bird-of-paradise flowers she’s painted near a seascape, as part of her exhibited murals and fine art.
My waistline is very glad that I won’t be within a mile of Cottage Confectionary. Owner/pastry chef Clarissa Effa has created the most incredible-looking “Festive Gift Box” filled with sweets–I’d grab that meringue snowman in a second! (And her website also mentions that her “Holiday Macarons” are her favorite, and she’s currently taking orders. Can’t you just imagine the sifted chocolate on those mint ones, melting on your tongue!
And, how utterly beautiful and wearable-looking are the dresses, tops, skirts and accessories offered by Made By Good Karma! Their handwoven and block printed creations are made by independent artists in India and Thailand.
And then, there’s…

OK–that’s a quick look at just three exhibitors! If you attend the Downtown Burbank Winter Arts Fair, though, you’ll also want to explore some additional activities.
You’ll get to paint your own nutcracker ornament, free, courtesy of nonprofit Jackalope Gives, which connects families with the arts by offering free maker workshops at each Jackalope Arts fair. Look for their DIY station right near the information booth.
Like to take a Santa picture–free? Old Saint Nick will be on hand, from noon to 4 pm, both Saturday and Sunday, at the end of Olive. Bring the camera!
Also, bring your good wishes to add to the “Holiday Wish Tree”, which will be located at Orange Grove, and look for a special deal from participating artisans on the “Artisan Deal Tree”, at Olive.
And, last but certainly not least–bring your young artists to decorate and gift-wrap their own ornaments! You’ll find the ornament making station, courtesy of Media City Church, at Booth C, Palm Center.
All this, plus live music, food and the opportunity to support gifted artisan/entrepreneurs: Christmas shopping in Southern California can’t get much better!
