Great news!
Shoppers get to enjoy Jackalope Art Fair’s winter show in Pasadena without having to slosh through heavy rain, mud or otherwise-unfestive weather conditions.
That’s because, due to the storm forecast for this weekend, Jackalope Art Fair’s winter show in Old Town has now been rescheduled from this Saturday and Sunday to NEXT weekend: November 22nd and 23rd.
And once the predicted rain is over, the sun’s going shine on two days of great shopping, from more than 200 booths of curated vendors showcasing their handcrafted work.
Just three of the listed exhibitors:

- Dany Paragouteva, whose airy and dreamlike paintings evoke a sense of enchantment. Two of her paintings are also available as floor puzzles–although, not surprisingly, her “Circus Above the City” is listed as “sold out”. It’s colorful, imaginative and a personal favorite.

- La Lovie. While she creates adorable all-handcrafted dolls and stuffed animals, another of her creations is likely to tempt gift-shoppers most: her DIY kits! These include stamped fabric or fully-equipped kits for dolls young crafters can cut out and sew. Her mermaid doll, frog doll and bee and butterfly dolls are especially whimsical and fun.

- Mona Botanical Jewelry. Technically “custom pressed-flower jewelry”, this description doesn’t come close to doing justice to the colors and varieties on her website gallery. She crafts custom jewelry out of real flowers, preserved in resin, that can last for decades to come. Forget-me-not earrings and her beautiful topaz-colored Queen Anne Lace pendant are my favorites, but she also crafts pieces to order.
In addition, visitors will get to “get crafty” with some hands-on activities! Nonprofit Jackalope Gives will be hosting a free pinwheel decorating and wooden mushroom painting, just outside the information booth. (Can we say “cute Christmas ornaments” here?)

Additional activities will include “make-your-own-slime” workshops, courtesy of Sparklez Slimez; custom poetry about you by Los Angeles Street poet Bryan Mahoney (he whips these up on vintage typewriters!), free live custom screen printing by Print Renegades (you can bring an item from home to be printed, or have them screen print something from the artisans on-site!) and Face Painting by Linda (who does glitter tattoos, face painting and nail art for all occasions, and has garnered rave reviews!).
Live music will be featured, both days, courtesy of instrumentalists/vocalists Rusty Perez, Ricky England and Paul Falcon.

And as far as the artisan food and drink? In a word–YUMMMM!
Maine lobster, Indonesian fusion dishes, Sinaloan tacos, and/or real fruit ice cream appeal to your imagination?
Thought so! Me, too.
Admission is free for Jackalope Pasadena (as is true for their shows in all seven of their locations) and you might like to see their Old Town Pasadena map of vendors, which you’ll find on their website.

Meanwhile, as we hunker down and listen to the rain this weekend, you and I have another opportunity.
Through their nonprofit, Jackalope Gives, Jackalope Arts hosts free art-making opportunities. They’d welcome donations–either financial or donations of art supplies. For the latter, here’s the link to their wish list.
Jackalope Arts’ winter show in Old Pasadena has been rescheduled to Saturday and Sunday, November 22nd and 23rd, due to weather conditions. Show hours are 10 am to 4 pm, both days, in Central Park, 245 South Raymond (at Del Mar) in Old Pasadena.
