It’s almost here!
No, not Christmas Day–yet. (Whew!)
But “Holiday Krazy Krafts Day” happens this Saturday, December 14th, at the International Printing Museum in Carson.
From 10:00, this Saturday morning, to 4:00 in the afternoon, kids of all ages (including us very tall ones!) will get to enjoy a day of printing, crafts and keepsake-making.
The Museum emails that participants can engage in more than a dozen activities, from printing to paper making to typing on antique typewriters. Guests can print keepsakes, cards and bookmarks, explore their creativity through rubber stamping, learn more about calligraphy or even screen-print a T-shirt for an additional fee. Museum tours will also be offered throughout the day.
Past “Holiday Krazy Krafts Day” activities have included Japanese origami, paper marbling, and even creating unique books, through bookbinding! (Charles Dickens would be proud!)
“Holiday Krazy Krafts Day” is one of many events hosted by the International Printing Museum, which houses one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive collections of antique printing machinery and graphic arts equipment. In line with the Museum’s mission of bringing the history of books and printing to life for their guests, visitors can tour the museum space, work vintage typewriters and create keepsakes with antique printers, and most of all, come away with knowledge on the role of books and printing in the modern world.
And, quick heads-up: the Museum also hosts regular book arts workshops. They’ll be starting off with a “Paper Marbling” workshop in mid-January, which might be just the right gift experience for a “crafty” friend or family member.
