This weekend’s forecast: clear and sunny, with unique jewelry and intermittent scented soaps and candles.\u00a0 There’s also a 99-percent chance of leather- and woodworking, with musicians and some food trucks moving in from the coast.<\/p>\n

That’s because there are TWO free indie crafts fairs coming to Southern California, this weekend.<\/p>\n

This summer, the Renegade Craft Fair<\/a> makes its Los Angeles stop in a new location.\u00a0 Their July Market is happening in L.A.’s new Grand Park, from 11 am to 6 pm, on both Saturday and Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0 This is always a blast, despite the heat (parasol, sun hats and sunscreen highly recommended, and don’t forget to hydrate!).<\/p>\n

Past favorites from this innovative show have included Jennifer Stewart-Thorn’s lacy Topiary Designs<\/a> jewelry.\u00a0 We also like Rondo Mieczkowski’<\/a>s dill pickles and award-winning Tarragon Cherries, from his Coldwater Canyon Provisions<\/a> artisan foods small business.\u00a0 (He handcrafts these in small batches from family heirloom recipes.\u00a0 Who wouldn’t be tempted?) \u00a0 And B.O.S.S. Girls Inc.<\/a> was a great find-we love their scented soap AND their mission of teaching young women to be entrepreneurs!<\/p>\n

Then, on Sunday, you’ll have a choice to make.\u00a0 It’s the second day of Renegade Fair, AND the date of something special from Handmade in South Bay<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Hard to believe, but Handmade in South Bay<\/a>, while a talented group of independent artist entrepreneurs, aren’t even a year old yet!\u00a0 They started their organization in September of last year, and have already hosted: their first December Handmade Boutique, a later Holiday Boutique, and April’s First Annual Spring Show.\u00a0 Boardmember Barb Lieberman shared their story<\/a> in an earlier post, here on the site.<\/p>\n

Keeping up with their tradition of creative ambition (and yes, I do<\/em> believe they can change the world!), they’re hosting their “Sizzling Summer Bazaar”, this Sunday afternoon, July 27th, from 12 to 4 pm at Ken Miller Recreation Center, in Torrance.\u00a0 You’ll recall some of the favorites from before, mentioned in last week’s post.<\/a>\u00a0 And, uh-oh, they’ve just added temptation to temptation.\u00a0 Their Facebook page<\/a> says\u00a0 M&M Ice Cream’s food truck will be there, too!<\/p>\n
