{"id":4374,"date":"2014-04-18T19:26:27","date_gmt":"2014-04-19T02:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noelophile.com\/?p=4374"},"modified":"2014-04-18T19:29:37","modified_gmt":"2014-04-19T02:29:37","slug":"an-eastertime-triumph","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/?p=4374","title":{"rendered":"An Eastertime Triumph"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/church-sign1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4385 aligncenter\" alt=\"church sign1\" src=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/church-sign1.jpg\" width=\"495\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/church-sign1.jpg 495w, https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/church-sign1-247x300.jpg 247w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/a>by Noella Noelophile\u2122<\/em><\/p>\n<p>By noon, more than 900 Easter baskets had gone out the door.<\/p>\n<p>And baskets, supplies and volunteers kept right on coming.<\/p>\n<p>According to their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OperationEasterBasket\">Facebook page<\/a>, Justin Rudd&#8217;s Operation Easter Basket celebrated its ten-year anniversary today.\u00a0\u00a0 The scene at Long Beach&#8217;s Bay Shore Church, in Belmont Shore, amounted to a lively and loving celebration.<a href=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/baskets2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4393\" alt=\"baskets2\" src=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/baskets2.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/baskets2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/baskets2-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/baskets2-398x300.jpg 398w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tables were set up with candy, T-shirts, personal-hygiene items, toys and school\/art supplies.\u00a0 Volunteers took baskets or plastic sand pails with shovels, started with Easter grass or ribbon and filled the baskets from there.\u00a0 The goal was 1,600 baskets for underprivileged youth in the area, ages birth to sixteen years.<!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/justin-and-volunteers2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4395\" alt=\"justin and volunteers2\" src=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/justin-and-volunteers2.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/justin-and-volunteers2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/justin-and-volunteers2-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/justin-and-volunteers2-398x300.jpg 398w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Overseeing it all was Long Beach &#8220;Chief Inspiration Officer&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/justinrudd.com\">Justin Rudd<\/a>, monitoring the baskets and the process of getting them to the various community groups to which they&#8217;d been promised.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Volunteers,&#8221; he announced at one point, &#8220;I need y&#8217;all to stop what you&#8217;re doing and help load these baskets in that flatbed truck outside.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/cart1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4397\" alt=\"cart1\" src=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/cart1.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/cart1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/cart1-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/cart1-398x300.jpg 398w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A line of approximately fifteen people streamed outdoors, ant-style, carrying eighty completed\u00a0 and cellophane-wrapped baskets to a truck that had arrived from Carmelitos Housing Project..\u00a0 There were lots of smiles&#8211;and a minor crisis averted.\u00a0 Five of the baskets earmarked for another group had been accidentally loaded into the flatbed!
