Seriously?\u00a0 A year’s gone by–already?<\/p>\n

That’s right.\u00a0 The Cultural Alliance of Long Beach<\/a> celebrates its first anniversary this weekend!<\/p>\n

CALB<\/a> opened its doors in downtown Long Beach on October 6, 2012.\u00a0\u00a0 Their stated mission is: “to support working artists of all ages, in all artistic disciplines, and connect them with the public…through through innovative collaborations, dialogues, promotions, and education…”<\/p>\n

That support has appeared in many incarnations, over the past year.CALB’s downtown Long Beach locations have hosted a year of art exhibits, workshops, classes, performances and special events.\u00a0\u00a0 Highlights of their past year have included April’s Cherry Blossom Festival, and September’s “Guts N’ Bolts Art Show” (think zombie robots!).<\/p>\n

As they embark on their second year, CALB continues to have a lot going on!\u00a0 They’ll be showcasing six artists at this month’s exhibition, opening tomorrow evening, October 5th.\u00a0\u00a0 Next Tuesday, October 8th, they’re hosting a photography class–and a watercolor class starts on Saturday, October 12th.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Also on the 12th, their MADhaus performance venue hosts “Project Nunway”<\/a>: an outrageous celebration of fashion, over-the-top creativity on a budget and the gay community, with L.A.’s Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.<\/p>\n

And those are only a few of the events happening at CALB during the first half of October.\u00a0 We haven’t even mentioned their grant writing classes, drum circle, artists’ support group, upcoming screenings, yoga training, sewing classes..<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Cultural Alliance of Long Beach is located at 727 Pine Avenue (Pine and Seventh) in downtown Long Beach.\u00a0 Their Bungalow Art Center is open Tuesdays through Fridays, from 4 pm to 9 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 pm.\u00a0 Often, Friday and Saturday hours are extended for special events, which are open to the public and listed on their website.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
