They have a dream that won’t quit.<\/p>\n

This passion leads them to take risks, sit up till 3 am finishing a project, and spend weeks organizing events that will promote their work.<\/p>\n

And today (but hopefully, every day of the year!) we get to celebrate small business owners.<\/p>\n

This Small Business Saturday, here are just a few small businesses you might like to support.<\/p>\n

Patchwork Show and Modern Makers Festival\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is one of the offshoots of talented Dear Handmade Life proprietor Nicole Stevenson’s imagination and initiative.<\/p>\n

Today, the show’s in Long Beach, from 11 am to 5 pm, with more than 200 vendors, food trucks and free DIY crafts activities at Marine Stadium!\u00a0 Here’s a link for information<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Of note: Nicole also serves as a creative coach\/mentor<\/a>, if you’re looking for a great gift to give a fellow artist, and her “Craftcation” conference for creatives<\/a> is scheduled for next April 8th through 12th in Ventura!<\/p>\n

Museum of Make Believe<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Covered more at length in a previous post<\/a>, but today, Museum of Make Believe, the vision of husband-and-wife artist team Geoff and Amy Mitchell, is hosting their “Bluebird Market” from 10 am to 4 pm.\u00a0 \u00a0They’ll have a number of artists and storytellers onsite, exhibiting their creations and engaging visitors in creating something special.<\/p>\n

And year-round, Museum of Make Believe celebrates storytelling and creativity in their creative space that’s designed to look like an enchanted forest.\u00a0 Visitors will come away believing, or believing even more strongly, in magic.<\/p>\n

Custom Crazy Candy Cakes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"Custom<\/a>Jalene Ressegue starts with candy and creates something amazing.<\/p>\n

No “cake” involved, though.<\/p>\n

As we explored in our earlier post, what she’s creating are candy towers with themes, which are absolutely spectacular.<\/p>\n

And if you’re stuck for an office gift or something special to bring to a special occasion, you might like to check out her Custom Crazy Candy Cakes<\/a> website and Instagram.\u00a0 She does custom orders, and you will be wowed!<\/p>\n

Ozarks Wood-N-Stuff<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Artist J. Michael Evans creates hand turned bowls, pens, jewelry and much more with exotic and local woods.\u00a0 \u00a0His wooden bowls glow as if they’re lit from within the wood, and I love the cherry wood pen we bought from him a number of years ago.<\/p>\n

However, my favorite of his works is still his wooden finial Christmas ornament, which we hang in our doorway every year.<\/p>\n

Michael creates custom baby rattles and toys, and you can see some of his work on his gallery.<\/a><\/p>\n
