September is here.\u00a0 The heat may be abating (thank goodness!).\u00a0 \u00a0And, it’s time to think about autumn crafts events.<\/p>\n

Here are several you might like to check out.<\/p>\n

Seal Beach Lions Arts & Crafts Faire<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 47th annual “Seal Beach Lions Arts and Crafts Faire<\/a>” happens this Saturday and Sunday, September 6th and 7th<\/strong>, in Eisenhower Park.\u00a0 (That’s at the foot of the entrance to the Seal Beach Pier–you can’t miss it!)<\/p>\n

More than 100 artists and artisans will be on hand, showcasing their handcrafted work.\u00a0 \u00a0Local youth will perform live music on Center Stage, throughout the weekend.\u00a0 And kids get a chance to create something special, in the “Kids Art Zone”.<\/p>\n

All this, and lunch will be served, too!<\/p>\n

On their website, the Seal Beach Lions Club mentions that their young Lions, a\/k\/a the LEOS, will cook and serve lunch, as their largest fundraiser of the year.<\/p>\n

This sounds like a roaring good time–and a great way to enjoy a weekend at the beach.<\/p>\n

The 47th Seal Beach Lions Arts & Crafts Fair runs from 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday, September 6th, and from 9 am to 4 pm, Sunday, September 7th in Eisenhower Park.<\/em><\/p>\n

Fort Mason Night Market, San Francisco<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tomorrow, Friday, September 5th,<\/strong> is the September version of this monthly event, combining shopping, food and live music.<\/p>\n

More than 50 artists and designers will be onsite.<\/p>\n

This sounds like a uniquely San Franciscan experience.<\/p>\n

According to Fort Mason’s website<\/a>, the vendors are curated by West Coast Craft<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0Meanwhile, more than 25 food and beverage vendors will be there–and they’re<\/em> curated by Off the Grid<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And, the live music is curated by Stern Grove Festival<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Sounds like an exceptional, family-friendly evening, even before we mention that there will be a Family Artmaking Workshop, from 5 to 8 pm, in Gallery 308 of San Francisco Children’s Art Center.\u00a0 As well as waterfront DJs for dancing, and public art installations throughout the campus.<\/p>\n

Fort Mason Night Market happens Friday evening, September 5th, from 5 pm to 10 pm at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, 2 Marina Center, in San Francisco.\u00a0 Admission is free, and if you are a Bay Area crafter who’d like to be considered as a vendor at a future Night Marker, here’s the link to apply<\/a> to West Coast Craft.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like to see the work of 135 juried artists among the California redwoods?\u00a0 As well as enjoy family-friendly activities in the Children’s Grove, listen to live music on the main stage and support artists of all ages and backgrounds in the Special Presentation Grove, Emerging Artists area and Student Artists displays?<\/p>\n

Then mark your calendar for Saturday and Sunday, September 20th and 21st,<\/strong> and plan on visiting Old Mill Park for the 68th annual Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Started in 1957, the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival proudly reflects both the spirit of the community of Mill Valley and of volunteerism.\u00a0 The Festival has been hosted in Old Mill Park since 1962.<\/p>\n

Unlike the two previous events, Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival does have an admission charge.\u00a0 Eventbrite lists general-admission tickets at\u00a0 $28.52, with a senior discount, for those of us ages 62 and up, at $23.18.<\/p>\n

HOWEVER!:<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you sign up for a volunteer shift, according to MVFAF’s website, you’ll receive free admission, a T-shirt and snacks.\u00a0 \u00a0At this posting, volunteer tasks from which you can choose<\/a> include festival setup and breakdown, working the admission gate, entertainment support, and there’s currently (as of today, September 4th) one volunteer position listed as open, for a merchandise-vendor volunteer.<\/p>\n

The 68th annual Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival happens Saturday and Sunday, September 20th and 21st, from 10 am to 5 pm.\u00a0 \u00a0While tickets are available for purchase at this link<\/a>, volunteers receive free admission in return for a 3- to 4-hour volunteer shift.\u00a0 Here’s the link for volunteer information<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
