OK, I admit it.\u00a0 I’m sitting here oohing and aahing.<\/p>\n

And that’s just from looking at some of the pictures<\/em> of work by exhibiting artists in the upcoming Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair!<\/p>\n

Details first: on Saturday, December 7th, and Sunday, December 8th, Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair will showcase the work of more than 40 local artists from Marin and the Bay Area.\u00a0\u00a0 Admission’s free, and their hours are 10 am to 5 pm on the 7th, and 10 am to 4 pm on the 8th, at Muir Beach Community Center.<\/p>\n

But the previous paragraph doesn’t really do justice to the fact that this is something special.<\/p>\n

Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair, started in the 1970s by the group that today is the Muir Beach Quilters, began as a community Christmas party, with local artists exhibiting their work.\u00a0\u00a0 (In fact, you can meet the current members of Muir Beach Quilters this year, as they exhibit their scarves, gloves, and quilts for sale.)<\/p>\n

Decades later, that sense of community remains at the heart of their special event.<\/p>\n

This year, Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair is partnering with the California College of the Arts, showcasing some student work, in addition to the creations of their established professionals.<\/p>\n

A portion of the proceeds from sales will go to help fund various community events.<\/p>\n

And, once again, the Muir Beach Volunteer Firefighters will be on hand, selling various items with their popular dog logo, to fund their department.<\/p>\n

Metalsmith Rachel Levy-Bencheton<\/a> was born in Morocco, and her art was first inspired by the rich tradition of metalworking in North Africa.<\/span>.\u00a0 She handcrafts her beautiful and unique pieces without the use of wax or a mold–so no two are ever alike!<\/p>\n

Watercolor artist Austin Moore is currently in his junior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he’s studying landscape architecture. Austin’s bio says his water colors of his home town of Muir Beach and Marin are inspired by his growing-up experiences, including being a Junior Muir Beach Voluntary Fireman.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Designing clothes has been a passion all my life,” writes artist Jie Lee Grady in her bio.\u00a0\u00a0 Jie Lee draws on her eclectic background for her creations.\u00a0 Born in north China, she first studied design in her home country–then attended the Fashion Institute of Japan, in Tokyo, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. \u00a0 Jie Lee enjoys combining bits of all the cultures she’s studied to design outfits that are uniquely her own.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

And, I also really like these ornaments, created by the Muir Beach Community Junior Artisans!<\/a><\/p>\n

But, those are just a few of the 40-plus artists who are carrying on a beloved tradition of more than 50 years in Muir Beach.\u00a0 You’re sure to find some new favorites.<\/p>\n
