Love is at the center of GLIDE Foundation’s<\/a> community work in San Francisco, year-round.<\/p>\n

Their upcoming Annual Holiday Jam<\/a>, happening Wednesday, November 13th, is themed accordingly.<\/p>\n

“The Love Agenda, a Tenderloin Legacy”,\u00a0 will feature legendary musicians, sharing their gifts for a great cause.<\/p>\n

Legendary soul\/R&B crooner Lenny Williams,<\/a> former lead singer of Tower of Power, will be featured.<\/p>\n

So will multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and music producer The Philharmonik, winner of NPR’s 2024 Tiny Desk Contest for his song, “What’s It All Mean?”.<\/p>\n

Singer\/songwriter Vernon Bush<\/a>, former GLIDE Ensemble director, will be performing.<\/p>\n

As will singer\/songwriter Michael Marshall<\/a>, former lead singer of the American R&B group Timex Social Club.<\/p>\n

The nationally-renowned GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band<\/a>, led by Zoe Ellis, will be performing, and veteran television journalist Priya David Clemens will serve as the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies.<\/p>\n

While the program will honor the legacy of GLIDE’s co-founders, the late Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani, <\/strong>it will also showcase the vision and Love Agenda of new CEO and President Dr. Gina Fromer.<\/p>\n

GLIDE’s 2024 Annual Holiday Jam begins with a reception, at 5:30, with complimentary appetizers.\u00a0\u00a0 The show begins at 7:00, and there will be a VIP-catered picnic dinner for orchestra seats.<\/p>\n

While spotlighting the power of love in moving towards justice, the 2024 GLIDE Holiday Jam will, once again, raise funds for nonprofit GLIDE Foundation’s services and outreach.<\/p>\n

GLIDE’s mission<\/strong><\/h4>\n

No single post could do justice to GLIDE’s mission, as a life-changing organization.<\/p>\n

However, for sixty years and counting, GLIDE has functioned as a nationally recognized center for social justice.<\/p>\n

In service to their goals of fighting systemic injustices and creating pathways out of poverty and crisis, GLIDE offers a daily free meals program<\/a>, providing three nutritious meals a day, 364 days a year.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Started in 1969 as a weekly volunteer potluck, GLIDE’s free-meals program has served more than 654,000 meals to the hungry in San Francisco during fiscal year 2023-2024.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, GLIDE’s Women’s Center<\/a> offers a safe haven to trauma survivors.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Among the programs offered by their Family Resource Center is licensed early education and childcare, for children ages 18 months to five years, on weekdays.<\/p>\n

Their Health Access Service<\/a> includes free vaccinations and testing, as well as sober support and violence prevention programs.<\/p>\n

And, their new Cecil Williams Community Access Program<\/a> honors the life of the late Reverend Williams by training ambassadors who work towards goals which include cleaner and safer streets, community building and connecting Tenderloin residents with services and support group.<\/p>\n

In other words,\u00a0 it’s all about acting with love and inspiration.<\/p>\n
