What could be better than Christmas shopping by the beach?<\/p>\n

How about: supporting talented artists, celebrating a great community and encouraging some gifted students–while Christmas shopping by the beach?<\/p>\n

That’s exactly what you’ll get an opportunity to do, if you’re in Northern California this weekend.<\/p>\n

This Saturday and Sunday, December 2nd and 3rd, the Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair<\/a> returns to the Muir Beach Community Center!<\/p>\n

For more than 40 years, the Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair has been a Christmastime tradition.<\/p>\n

More than 40 gifted artists from all over the Bay Area showcase their work.\u00a0 Exhibits sparkle with Christmas ornaments, wreaths, home and fashion accessories, hand-made jewelry, gifts from the garden and much more.<\/p>\n

As you browse, be sure to look for the Muir Beach Volunteer Firefighters<\/a>.\u00a0 They’ll be selling their dog logo accessories, clothing, hats, and stainless ware<\/a>, and your purchases\u00a0 help fund their goal: building a new firehouse!<\/p>\n

And a don’t-miss, is the Muir Beach Quilters’<\/a> display.<\/p>\n

Not only do they have their beautiful quilts, scarves and gloves for sale, but this year, they have some brand-new handstitched Christmas ornaments!<\/p>\n

In addition, they’re the original innovators who started the fair–as a big, informal community party, in 1972!\u00a0\u00a0 According to the Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair’s website<\/a>, the Muir Beach Quilters ran the Fair up until 2013.\u00a0\u00a0 When the Quilters decided not to continue the Fair following that year’s event, community members kept the tradition going.<\/p>\n

Today, the Muir Beach Arts Fair operates with two purposes.<\/p>\n

First, to donate a portion of their proceeds to fund local community events, including concerts, summer and winter solstice celebrations and the kids’ Halloween Party.<\/p>\n

And second, to give their local creative artists a chance to sell their work.<\/p>\n

Once again, this year, the Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair has partnered with the California College of the Arts, showcasing the work of some of their students.\u00a0\u00a0 Meanwhile, some future California College students may very well be exhibiting–the Fair offers a Junior Artisans\/Kids table, where younger exhibitors can showcase and sell their creations.<\/p>\n

With food and beverages available throughout both days, and its community and creative atmosphere, Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair will welcome the first weekend in December as it first did in 1972: with a party.<\/p>\n

The Muir Beach Holiday Arts Fair runs from 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday, December 2nd, and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, December 3rd, at The Muir Beach Community Center, 19 Seascape Drive, in Muir Beach.\u00a0 Admission is free.<\/strong> <\/em><\/h4>\n
