{"id":14524,"date":"2020-10-31T11:56:53","date_gmt":"2020-10-31T18:56:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noelophile.com\/?p=14524"},"modified":"2020-10-31T12:02:24","modified_gmt":"2020-10-31T19:02:24","slug":"groups-of-words-that-make-me-smile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/?p=14524","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Groups of Words That Make Me Smile&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>by Noella Noelophile\u00ae<\/h6>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14525\" src=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/kitty-e1604168806685.jpg\" alt=\"Closeup of black cat with green eyes waiting to be fed\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/>&#8220;I&#8217;ll be listening for groups of words that make me smile.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One longtime member of our Toastmasters club made that statement, just this week.<\/p>\n<p>He was explaining his role as Grammarian of our club.\u00a0 But the comment was enough to start me thinking.<\/p>\n<p>Normally, for Halloween, I write posts about how quickly Christmas is approaching.\u00a0 Or the fact that Halloween is a special personal anniversary of an amazing, life-changing decision for which I&#8217;m thankful, every day.<\/p>\n<p>But&#8211;not this year.<\/p>\n<p>2020 has been surreal.\u00a0 Life changed both rapidly and radically, with the pandemic.\u00a0\u00a0 A sense of &#8220;it can&#8217;t happen here&#8221; was replaced by shocking headlines and by isolation, remote connection and looking back at the way life &#8220;used to be&#8221;.\u00a0 And the strangest part is, how life &#8220;used to be&#8221; was only nine months ago.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13958\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/?attachment_id=13958\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13958\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13958\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13958\" src=\"https:\/\/noelophile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/candles-492171_1920-e1574461387345.jpg\" alt=\"numerous small gold tealight candles glow in the dark\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13958\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Royalty-free image by by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Now seems like a great time to talk about words that make us smile.<\/p>\n<p>What words do the people you love use, to tell you you&#8217;re important in their lives?\u00a0\u00a0 What particularly memorable passages from your favorite books, have become a part of you?\u00a0 What encouraging comments have you heard that kept you going forward?<\/p>\n<p>Personally, this year, I&#8217;ve been taking an online course that proved very challenging.\u00a0 After struggling with an assignment and admitting I didn&#8217;t get it, I asked the professor for a Zoom call.\u00a0 He talked me through the procedure: &#8220;You&#8217;re very close.\u00a0 You&#8217;ve almost got it,&#8221;
