If not, the San Clemente Art Association<\/a> will do a much better job, this weekend.<\/p>\n

This Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th, they’re hosting their fifty-seventh annual “Arts and Craft Fair”, at the San Clemente Community Center!<\/p>\n

While I don’t have a final tally of the number of artists and fine crafters exhibiting, suffice it to say that the San Clemente Art Association, founded in 1953, hosted its first Art and Crafts Fair in the 1960s.\u00a0 Their mission, according to their website,<\/a> is to “foster the appreciation of all arts and fine crafts”.<\/p>\n

And this weekend is your chance to find new treasures–and maybe start some early Christmas shopping.\u00a0 (Wow, did I really say that, already?<\/em> )\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Two artists you’ll definitely enjoy meeting: Michael and Freda Evans, of Ozarks-Wood-N-Stuff<\/a>!\u00a0 Both Mike and Freda are performers: Mike is a musician, who has divided his time between\u00a0 playing upright bass with the South Coast Symphony and performing in Branson, Missouri’s “The Shepherd of the Hills” outdoor drama.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Freda, who is an actress and singer, portrays “Mrs. Santa Claus” in Branson every Christmas season.<\/p>\n

And Mike has two studios, in which he turns some beautiful, warm-looking bowls, plates, goblets and a number of other unique items that will have you wanting to reach out and touch the smooth exotic and local woods he uses to work his magic.<\/p>\n

I personally couldn’t resist his smooth cherry wood pens, but he also crafts refrigerator magnets (secret Santa gifts here!), personalized rattles and platters.\u00a0\u00a0 Mike emails that the San Clemente Art Association’s Art and Crafts Fair is Ozarks-Wood-N-Stuff’s final California show.<\/p>\n

Summertime, a chance to support gifted artists, and the ocean not far away.\u00a0 California craft shows don’t get a lot better than that.<\/p>\n

San Clemente Art Association’s 57th annual “Arts and Craft Fair” happens this Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th from 10 am to 5 pm at San Clemente Community Center, 100 North Calle Seville (near Avenida Cabrillo).\u00a0 Admission is free.<\/em><\/h5>\n
